It can be tough deciding which service to foster with, as from the outside, they might look similar and as though they offer the same thing.
At evolve, all foster parents receive support, which is based on real evidence and has proven results. Below is evidence of the real, positive impact we and our foster parents have had on the children in our care.
Parent and Child fostering arrangement- Claire and Danielle
Danielle came to the attention of the Local Authorities when she went to the hospital to give birth to Claire. Danielle hadn’t notified any doctor of her pregnancy and therefore hadn’t received any anti-natal care.
Danielle has some learning needs which means it takes her longer to process information. It was assessed that Danielle had extremely limited knowledge of how to care for a newborn and had done nothing to prepare for her baby’s arrival.
What was evident from the beginning was Danielle’s love for her daughter.
It was agreed that Claire and Danielle would join an evolve Parent and Child placement for the Local Authority to ascertain whether Danielle could eventually care for Claire independently.
With the guidance of her foster parent, Danielle was advised on best practise for feeding, bathing and settling her daughter. She was also supported to build confidence in navigating her local area independently, using public transport, and managing her finances
With some adaptation by our foster parent to share information in a way Danielle could process more easily, she gained confidence and developed the skills to look after her daughter
At the end of the assessment, it was deemed that Danielle could safely care for Claire, and they moved into independent accommodation.
Danielle and Claire are proof that, with support from dedicated foster parents and real, therapeutic support, we continue to have a positive and lasting impact on children in care and their families.
