Why transfer fostering services
Many of our foster parents have transferred from other Independent Fostering Services. The reason for this varies but the most common feedback is that there is not enough training and other services claim to be therapeutic, when in reality they are not.
This is where evolve is different.

There are many services that claim to be therapeutic but evolve actually are.
All our therapeutic approaches are trauma-informed and evidence-based.
'What suprised me the most is how much support there is. We know we'll never feel alone.'

The needs and complexities of our young people have changed considerably in the last few decades so we must adapt quickly and effectively to support them.
Therapeutic Fostering
Therapeutic fostering is a specialist type of fostering that supports young people who have been impacted by trauma, abuse or any other severe disruption prior to being placed in care.
By parenting therapeutically, you are ensuring that those who require additional support can address their needs in a safe, nurturing environment. It is not ‘soft’ parenting but instead understands that the child’s behaviour is a way of communicating.
By setting routines and boundaries, the young person can begin to heal from their trauma and start to make sense of their world.

We have a multi-disciplinary clinical team that provide assessments, training, diagnoses and strategies to support those in our care and those who are caring for them.
More importantly we offer this care immediately, cutting the NHS waiting times that currently stands at a 3 year wait for looked after children.
Our clinical team don’t just support our young people.
Therapeutic techniques put the foster parent at the core of their learning. Reflective practice and self-care are paramount to ensuring a successful fostering arrangement.
Our clinical team are on hand to support you just as much as those in your care.

Frequently asked questions about transferring
-
Why do foster parent want to transfer to a new fostering service?
Some Foster Parents feel undervalued in their current service. Most of those who have already transferred to evolve did so because they lacked the relevant support and became demotivated with their previous service.
Our team have supported many Foster Parents who have transferred from other Independent Fostering Services.

Where can I get support once I have decided to transfer?
During every stage of the transferring process, we’re right there with you. We will support and make the process as straightforward as possible.
-
Can I transfer the training I have already received from my current fostering service?
All the skills you have learnt, and any formal qualifications you have received during your fostering career will of course be relevant. Once you join evolve, you will have a personal development plan.
-
How long does it take to transfer fostering services?
Your assessment will not be fast tracked as our priority is to understand your capacity to foster. The full transfer is usually completed within 4– 5 months.
-
Will I receive the same pay as my current fostering service?
We have highly competitive fee structures and in most situations we pay more than other fostering services.
-
Can I transfer with the children/young people I am currently fostering?
Yes. If you wish to transfer and there are children and young people in your care, it is the local authority responsibility to organise a transfer protocol meeting to discuss your reasons for wishing to transfer, any implications on the children and young people and ensure the minimal disruption to them and you.
