We are launching the first ever FOSTival in June 2025 and it is proving more popular than we could have imagined!
There’ll be more blogs to follow about what has been achieved, but for now we thought it important to reiterate why we created FOSTival in the first place.
An innovative and collaborative response to tackle the current social crisis.
evolve Therapeutic Fostering has been receiving over 60 referrals for children and young people on a daily basis.
That’s over 60 times a day a child or young person is in need of a loving home or safe place to stay.
Unfortunately, whilst the rate of children being entered into care is dramatically rising, the number of foster parents is sharply falling. Something drastic and innovative needs to happen within the social care sector so we do not fail our children and young people.
That is why the team at evolve Therapeutic Children’s Services have launched FOSTival.
The saying ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ comes to mind. Parents, family members, teachers, sports coaches and medical professionals are just a few examples of who helps support a child. Add social workers, foster parents, therapists for those in care and that results in a lot of people.
We wanted to acknowledge and celebrate this. That’s why FOSTival is a day for everyone.
It’s about having fun
Our children can face huge pressures in society today, particularly those in care. There are also negative stereotypes around children in care, which FOSTival aims to dispel. But every child deserves the right to play, explore their passions, enjoy the outdoors and HAVE FUN!
Supporting our local community
We also know times are tough and people need support now than ever. That’s why FOSTival is a free day out. There’s no entry charge and a multitude of free activities for all to enjoy.
FOSTival supports local businesses, and we have two local charities- The Young Lives Foundation and East Kent Hospital Charity, attending on the day too. We feel it important to collaborate with like-minded, child-focussed organisations that share our vision.
We hope you’ll share in it too.
